I'm thinking about upgrading my CPU from a 5700x to a 5800x3D and I want to know if my current cooler, the Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE, will keep it at reasonable temperatures. I'm not really into water cooling solutions, but I'm open to switching to a different air cooler if it's significantly better. If the performance difference isn't huge, I'd prefer to stick with my current setup! Also, I plan to use MX-6 thermal paste. What do you all think?

That cooler is definitely capable of handling the 5800x3D! I think you’ll be just fine. However, it’s good to be cautious with thermal paste applications. Some can indeed damage components if mishandled.
The Peerless Assassin 120 SE will manage to cool the 5800x3D without any issues. In fact, it'll even handle higher-end chips like the 9800x3D well. You’re in good shape sticking with it!
Your cooler should be more than enough for the 5800x3D. Honestly, the type of thermal paste you use doesn’t matter much in this case. Just make sure it's applied correctly. Good luck with your upgrade, and hope you snag that CPU at a fair price!
