I just got an Asus Vivobook Go 15, but I've run into an issue: the Wi-Fi chipset (Mediatek MT9702) doesn't support Linux with drivers. Can anyone suggest some reliable USB Wi-Fi adapters that work well on Linux and are priced around $10?

Hey, it's worth searching GitHub for any drivers for your chipset—there might be something available. Otherwise, check out recommendations for USB adapters that are Linux-friendly.

Definitely steer clear of Realtek adapters. They're known for issues, which is the last thing you need right now. Stick with something more reliable!

Brostrend makes some solid Wi-Fi adapters compatible with Linux. Just a heads up, though—I had to reinstall the drivers after every OS update, which was a bit of a hassle.

I recommend checking AliExpress; I've bought a few USB Wi-Fi adapters there that work great with Mint, Ubuntu, and Debian. You should find plenty of options.

If you're looking for a simple fix, you could swap out the wifi card for an Intel one. There are guides out there on how to do it, but just keep in mind that it might void your warranty.
