I've heard that SSDs can lose data if they're not used regularly. What are the best practices to keep an SSD that doesn't get much use in good shape? Should I just plug it in for a short time every few months, or do I need to perform more thorough checks like file system checks or other maintenance tasks?

You really don’t need to stress too much about this. Just power it on every few months to keep it healthy. Make sure to keep at least 20% of the drive empty too. Also, consider the 3-2-1 backup rule: 3 copies of your data, on 2 different types of storage, with 1 stored offsite.

True, but remember: 3 copies is just a minimum! If you can manage more, go for it!
