How to Fix My Samsung HDTV Monitor’s Resolution Error?

I'm having a frustrating issue with my Samsung HDTV monitor. Every time I turn it on, I get the error message that says, 'This mode is not appropriate. Optimal mode: 1366x768 @60Hz.' I've tried adjusting all the settings to no avail, and I found some old posts about this issue related to PC setups, but I'm using it with my PlayStation and Xbox. Any suggestions on how to resolve this?

Have you looked up your monitor's specs? It seems like 1366x768 is its limit. You might need to connect your consoles to a different TV to adjust the resolutions before trying again on your monitor.

Hey there! It sounds like your console is outputting a resolution that your TV can't handle. To fix this, you can force a safe resolution on both consoles:

For your PlayStation 4:
1. Turn it completely off (not Rest Mode).
2. Press and hold the power button until you hear two beeps (about 7 seconds).
3. Choose 'Change Resolution' in Safe Mode.
4. Select 720p (your TV should support that).

For the Xbox One:
1. Turn it off.
2. Press and hold EJECT + POWER together until you hear a second beep.
3. It will boot in low-res mode (480p). Go to Settings ➔ Display & Sound ➔ Video Output and set it to 720p.

Your TV isn’t compatible with 1080p, so stick to 720p, and that should solve the issue!

Also, double-check that your system's resolution is set to 60Hz, not 120Hz. That might help!

Your TV has a max resolution of 1366x768 at 60Hz. If your PlayStation or Xbox is trying to send a higher resolution (like 1080p), that's why you're getting the error. You need to set the output to 720p. If the TV still isn't cooperating after that, it might just be time for an upgrade!

It's a base model PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. I don't really know how to change their resolutions, though.

If your TV can handle a higher resolution, maybe the HDMI cables are the issue. Trying out a different HDMI cable could help resolve your problem if that's the case.

I tried all three of my cables, so I don't think that's it!
