Why won’t my PC start after upgrading the CPU?

I recently upgraded my old PC specs, and now it won't even turn on! Here are the specs I was working with: Asus H81M-C motherboard, HyperX DDR3 Savage 4GB RAM, Windforce GTX 560 OC GPU, and an Intel Pentium G3240 processor. I first installed a new RAM stick to match the old one, and everything was running smoothly. Next, I replaced the old CPU with a new i7 4770. I checked the BIOS and confirmed compatibility. To avoid any issues, I also removed the motherboard battery during the CPU swap. After reconnecting everything, I powered it up but only saw a green light on the motherboard and the keyboard and mouse lit up. However, when I pressed the power button, nothing happened. I tried removing the GPU and HDD, testing each RAM stick in different slots, but still no luck. I even put back the old CPU, and the same issue persisted. The motherboard pins look fine—none are bent or missing. I'm really confused and would appreciate any insight into what might be going wrong since the computer worked perfectly just 30 minutes before the upgrade!

Did you remember to apply thermal paste to the new CPU? It’s super important for heat dissipation. If you did, did you try booting without the cooler just to listen for any signs of life? Sometimes, that can help diagnose the issue.

You might want to double-check the motherboard connections. Sometimes a loose connector can prevent the PC from booting. Also, ensure that the power supply cables are securely attached, especially the CPU power connector.
