What should I upgrade to fix FPS drops and stuttering in my games?

I've been experiencing FPS drops and stuttering in some of my games and I'm trying to figure out what to upgrade. My current setup includes a Ryzen 5 5600G CPU, AMD RX 6700XT GPU, 16GB of RAM, and an ASUS ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING motherboard. While newer titles like Final Fantasy 16, Baldur's Gate 3, and Cyberpunk 2077 run smoothly on high settings, some games, even older ones like Dead Island DE and Dragon's Dogma 2, perform poorly. Interestingly, God of War shuts down unexpectedly during gameplay. I'm considering upgrades and have a budget of around 300 euros. Any suggestions?

It sounds like your Ryzen 5600G could be a bottleneck. Upgrading to a Ryzen 7 5700X3D could significantly improve performance and prepare you for a future GPU upgrade. Just make sure your motherboard supports it!

Considering you're gaming at 1080p, I'd say the Ryzen 5600G is holding you back. Definitely look at getting a Ryzen 5600 instead. And make sure to turn off any performance features in your BIOS that might be causing issues!

Have you noticed if the issues started recently? Sometimes performance can drop due to software issues rather than hardware. Checking your drivers or doing a fresh Windows install might be helpful.

Your build seems pretty solid overall! I think you might just be experiencing poorly optimized games. For instance, Dragon’s Dogma 2 is notorious for performance issues, and God of War has known crashes from a bug. Unless you're really set on upgrading, sticking with what you have might be the best move for now!

Have you thought about your RAM? Upgrading to 32GB could help reduce stutter in certain demanding games, especially if you're at 1080p and multitasking. And yeah, swapping out that 5600G for a regular 5600 could still give you a good boost without breaking the bank!
