Hey everyone! I've just done a full rebuild of my PC, upgrading to a Ryzen 7 7780X3D and DDR5 RAM, along with a 1000W PSU. The only remaining component from my old setup is my 4070 Super, which I bought last year after upgrading from a 970. Now that I'm mostly gaming at 4K and diving into more demanding titles, I'm considering whether I should sell my 4070 and jump to a 5080 while there are still sales. Do you think it's a smart move given the potential for prices to rise in the future?

Honestly, the difference isn't huge; it's like a 30% boost if I remember correctly. But if you can snag a good deal on the 5080, it could definitely last you a long time. I think if you can sell your 4070 for around $400 and lock down a 5080 for around $1000, it’s a pretty decent investment! I used a 970 for ages before I upgraded to my 4070, so I get the hesitation to wait too long.
It’s definitely an upgrade. You can still sell your 4070 for a good price, and with the sales on the 5080, the overall net cost might not be too bad. Plus, it's great with 4K, especially with DLSS. I think you'd enjoy the boost!
I recently switched from a 3090 to a 5080, and wow, the upgrade in 4K was significant! I sold my 3090 for about 1000 CAD earlier this year, which helped make the switch easier on my wallet.
I'm in a similar boat! Thinking about selling my 4070 Ti to grab a 5080 while their price is decent at my local store. Your post is making me lean even more toward that decision!

Yeah, exactly! An upgrade like that would definitely get you through a lot assuming the rest of your build holds up. And considering how strong the 5080 is with 4K gaming and DLSS support, it sounds like a win!
