How Do I Start Creating a Game?

I've just begun learning to code and I'm interested in game design. I thought a good starting point would be to create a ROM hack or a fan game, but I'm really unsure about where to begin. I've got Notepad for coding, but how do I incorporate images or sound bytes into my project? Also, what's the process to turn my work into an actual game? Any advice would be appreciated!

Starting with a ROM hack might be a bit ambitious for your first project. It might be better to create a simple standalone game first to get the hang of coding and game design basics. Try searching for "how to get into ROM hacking" online; you'll find a lot of helpful resources there.

Consider using game engines like Unreal Engine for your project. They have loads of tutorials on YouTube—just dedicate about an hour to learn one thing at a time. It's a great way to start!

Hey, no need to feel dumb! It's totally normal to be confused at first. Yes, I recommend focusing on creating a standalone game first. It's simpler, and you'll learn a lot in the process!
