I recently got a monitor that has a strange issue: it only displays video when I connect it using a USB-C to HDMI dongle. This happens with both my MacBook and my Android phone. The person who gave me the monitor previously used it with a VGA cable. Unfortunately, I don't have any Macs with HDMI outputs to test further. When I try using it with my PC, it fails to output any video over standard HDMI, despite testing with three different cables. I also can't check if the dongle works with USB-C on my PC.
