iPad Charging Issues During Finals – Need Help!

I've been having a major problem with my iPad Pro 3rd gen, 12.9 inch. It stopped charging consistently about a month ago, and then after being completely unresponsive for a month, it randomly powered back on and started charging again. Now, during finals week, it's stopped charging at 30%! I've tried everything—hard and soft reboots, different charging cables, and even bought a Magic Keyboard to use the USB-C port bypass, but nothing seems to work. Plus, my friend with an iPad Air Gen 5 is having similar issues, despite having the latest iOS. This seems like it might be a software issue, but I'm not sure where to go from here. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, as I really need my iPad working for school right now!

Have you tried cleaning out the charging port? Sometimes dust or lint builds up and can block the connection. I recommend using a wooden toothpick gently and then giving it a blast of compressed air. If that works, consider getting a USB dust plug to prevent future issues.

Oh yes, I actually tried that with a toothpick and compressed air but didn’t have any luck.

It sounds like you’re facing a hardware issue, probably with the charging port. If it was working before and stopped again, it’s likely not software that's causing this. You might want to get the port checked out.

Would it still be the charging port issue if I used a Magic Keyboard? It did start working randomly again before giving up a couple of years later.

I agree with others that this seems more hardware-related. If the charging port has issues, it might not even be detectable by a computer anymore. Getting it checked by a professional might be your best bet.
