I currently have a solid CPU (5900x3d), but I'm feeling like my GPU is holding me back. I can't run games like Sons of the Forest or other demanding titles smoothly at good settings—I'm experiencing frame drops. I want to stick with Nvidia; can anyone suggest the best graphics card upgrade available right now?

Are you sure you have a 5900x3d? Did you mean 5800x3d?
It depends on what you're looking for. If you're up for a 60 series card, keep an eye out for any deals on the 5060 Ti 16GB. I've seen some really good offers recently.
If we’re talking price-to-performance, longevity, and being future-proof, the 5070 Ti is the best pick right now, typically priced at around $750.
I upgraded from a 3060 Ti to a 5070 and the difference is huge! I saw a 50% increase in raster performance at 4K without frame generation.
It really depends on your budget. A used 3080 could be a decent upgrade; it offers good value compared to newer models. However, with your 5900x3d, the ideal upgrade also hinges on your resolution. By the way, what's your monitor setup?
For great value, check out the 9060 XT 16GB for about $350. If you're looking for Nvidia, the 5060 Ti 16GB is good at $429. If high frame rates at 1440p are what you want, consider the 9070 XT.

Yeah, my bad! I misspoke—still a solid CPU, though.
