I'm in the market for a new RAM kit and I found a TeamGroup Delta RGB DDR5 running at 6400MHz with a CL40 rating for €150. The alternative is a kit with a CL32 rating, but that one costs an extra €60-100. For a gaming and editing setup, such as my Ryzen 7 7700 and RTX 5070, is using CL40 RAM really that bad, or should I go for the more expensive option?

Check out this video by Hardware Unbox; they break down the performance differences and reveal that the difference is really just a couple of percent. Definitely not worth the extra cash in my opinion!
You probably won't notice much difference just using your computer normally. The timing difference mainly shows up in benchmarks. The 6400MHz speed should be perfectly fine for your editing tasks. If you were looking at a much slower RAM kit, that’s when the timing difference would matter more, but even then, the impact isn't huge.
CL40 isn't going to make your system unplayable, that's for sure. It's not the best option out there, but I wouldn't spend an extra €100 for CL32. You can still get great performance without it.
