I'm considering purchasing either a used RTX 4080 for $550 or a used RTX 5070 Ti with 16GB for $650. Both sellers in my area upgraded to an RTX 5090 and have the original retail boxes and receipts. The RTX 4080 is about a year old, while the RTX 5070 Ti is only six months old. I primarily need the card for AI work and some casual gaming on a 4K 60Hz monitor. While I'd like to save some money, I'm wondering if the newer technology of the 5000 series is worth the extra cost.

In terms of gaming, both cards perform almost identically. It’s worth checking if your AI tasks see a big boost with the 5070 Ti. What matters more to you?
- 5070 Ti offers a warranty and slightly better ray tracing.
- 4080 gives you a nice savings!
The 4080 is a bit stronger than the 5070 Ti, even if the naming might suggest otherwise. Definitely lean towards the 4080 if you're looking for performance!
Totally go for the used 5070 Ti! The DLSS 4 support will be a good upgrade compared to the 4080's DLSS.
The RTX 4080 is slightly more powerful and cheaper, plus it's still a great choice. If the seller lets you test it with FurMark, I'd say go for that one!

Keep in mind, the 40-series can still use the DLSS 4 upscaling, just not the Multiframe Generation feature. Both cards have their strengths.
