My son's gaming PC has stopped working since a thunderstorm. The motherboard light is on, but nothing else happens when I try to power it on. I attempted to jump the power button using the 'power sw' plug with four prongs, but I'm uncertain if I did it right. The computer has an Intel i5 processor. Any advice would be appreciated!

Check for any diagnostic lights on the motherboard. There are typically indicators like CPU, DRAM, and VGA. If any of those are lit when you attempt to turn on the PC, it could help pinpoint the issue.
Years ago, I faced a similar issue after a power outage. I removed the power cable and took out the small coin-cell battery from the motherboard to drain any leftover power. After putting the battery back, it surprisingly booted up! Might be worth a shot.
It sounds like the storm might have caused a power surge that could have damaged the power supply. If that's the case, you might want to see if a friend can lend you a power supply for testing. Just to rule it out, you know? Good luck!
