I just got an Acer Aspire 16 AI A16-61M-R83C and decided to install Linux on it right away. Unfortunately, I've wasted my day trying to get it to work and ended up trying to install Windows, but it's slow and I'm having trouble with the drivers. When I tried running Linux, I ended up with a black screen after the systemd-bootloader menu unless I added `nomodeset` to the boot parameters. I'm looking for advice on whether I can successfully install Arch or another Linux distribution without issues, as I do most of my work on Linux and find Windows quite slow.

If you’re still struggling, try asking on the Arch forums. They have some pretty knowledgeable folks who can help you out.
If you're not too familiar with Linux, I’d recommend trying a more user-friendly distro like Mint instead of Arch for now. Your Ryzen CPU should work with Linux out of the box, so it sounds like something else is causing the issue.
Yeah, I’d suggest going with a Debian-based distro for hardware like this. They tend to be more compatible and easier to set up.
We have some installation tips available online that could help you out! Also, remember to always install Linux while connected to an Ethernet cable, and don’t forget to remove the boot media afterward.
I honestly find it hard to believe your laptop is running slow. Make sure to connect your laptop through Ethernet when updating Windows. That should help get all the necessary drivers sorted out. Regarding the Arch installation, have you tried booting from another distro like Fedora or CachyOS to see if your hardware is actually compatible? Just boot into a live session to check everything before committing to an install.

Actually, I've been running Arch on my main rig for over a year too. The black screen issue on my new laptop is frustrating; that's why I'm looking for help.
