Hey everyone! I'm looking to upgrade some components in my PC and would love your advice. Here's what I currently have:
- GPU: NVIDIA RTX 3080
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D
- Motherboard: ASRock X470 Gaming K4 (DDR4)
- RAM: 64 GB DDR4 (16x2)
- Case: Corsair SPEC-DELTA TG
I'm considering upgrading my motherboard for better performance while keeping my existing RAM, SSDs, etc. I also want the option of getting a new GPU in the future. Additionally, I'm thinking about switching to a Corsair 4000D Airflow case, with an extra cooler from Noctua, but I'm not sure which one would be best. Could you recommend some good motherboard options that are affordable and compatible? Thanks in advance!

Before you change your motherboard, consider why you want to. If it’s not causing you problems, you might not see a significant boost in performance. Your current setup seems solid, but if you really want a change, make sure to pick a motherboard that matches your needs and future upgrades.
Honestly, there's really no need to upgrade your motherboard at this stage unless you're really having issues or need features that your current one doesn't support. Your case has decent airflow already, but if you're looking for even more, the Lian Li Lancool 216 or 217 are great options! They come with excellent airflow setups and more fans to keep everything cool.
Upgrading your motherboard might not bring you the performance boost you're hoping for. If you're sticking with the AMD platform, you might want to check if there are better AM4 boards available. Just be cautious, as moving to an AM5 board means you'd be locked into DDR5 memory, which might not work with your current setup.
Exactly, no AM5 boards support DDR4. If you upgrade to AM5, you’ll need to replace your RAM as well.
Just to clarify, you mentioned having 64GB of RAM but listed two 16GB sticks. That's actually 32GB. Just making sure you're aware of that! As for upgrades, assess if your current motherboard is truly holding you back.

Good point! The Lancool series has really good intake and exhaust setups. Definitely worth considering!
