How to Enable UEFI Mode in BIOS for My New Mini PC?

I've recently built a new PC using a GMKTeck K8+ mini PC, and I'm trying to activate UEFI mode in the BIOS. My specs are pretty decent with a Ryzen 7 8840HS, Radeon 780M graphics, 32GB DDR5 RAM, and 1TB storage. I've partitioned my disk into three sections: one for Windows, another for Linux, and the last for my files. However, the BIOS is currently in legacy mode, and I'd like to enable XMP/EXPO for my RAM. I noticed an option in the BIOS for launching an EFI shell, but it says "not found" when I try to access it. Can anyone guide me on how to switch to UEFI mode?

To switch to UEFI mode, you won't find a straightforward on/off toggle for EFI. Instead, look for an option related to CSM (Compatibility Support Module). If CSM is disabled, your system is running in UEFI mode. Just make sure your BIOS is updated before making any changes. Also, keep in mind that switching to UEFI might cause some issues with your current setup, potentially requiring you to reinstall or repair your operating systems to manage bootloaders and partitions properly. Remember, you need a separate EFI partition for the bootloaders when using UEFI.

Do you know what distribution you're using? Sometimes the setup can depend on whether you're running Linux or another operating system. Also, double-check if your Mini PC's motherboard supports UEFI; that could be a limiting factor if you can't find the settings.

It's important to check your BIOS directly. This isn't specific to Linux or Windows; if your Mini PC doesn’t support UEFI, you won't be able to enable it. Keep that in mind while troubleshooting!
