How can I convert an MP4 video to MPEG2 for DVD playback?

I'm looking for a way to convert my 5.22 GB MP4 video to MPEG2 format so I can play it on a DVD. Most free conversion websites I've found won't handle such a large file. Can anyone recommend a method or software that is either free or relatively inexpensive, but most importantly, safe to use?

Have a look at Internet Friendly Media Encoder or TMPG. I've seen good results with both of those options! You can find TMPG [here](https://www.tmpgenc.net/en/index.html).

TMPG is solid! I once got an older version of Authoring Works 4 cracked, and it worked beautifully on Windows.

Freemake is another option. It's free and can convert various formats. Alternatively, VLC Player also has a conversion feature if you're already using it.

Is Freemake at freemake.com? Is that site safe to use?

You could also go for Handbrake, but keep in mind it dropped its MPEG2 support quite a while ago. You'd likely need an older version, and it requires some tweaking to get DVD-compliant output.

True, but it might still be the easiest option if you're up for figuring it out!

You might not need to convert the file separately since most DVD authoring software can handle the MPEG2 conversion for you. I recommend trying DVD Styler—it's free and pretty user-friendly!

I'll definitely check that out! Is it safe to download?
