Is the 9060XT 16GB a Good Match for an i7 8700?

My friend has been using his i7 8700 with a 1660ti since 2019, and it's definitely time for an upgrade. However, he's on a tight budget and can't go for the newer CPUs with DDR5 options just yet. I found a 9060XT 16GB for €350, which seems significantly cheaper compared to other options like the 4070 or 5060ti that are all around €100 more. I'm wondering if pairing the 9060XT with the i7 8700 is a bad idea due to potential bottlenecking. If that's the case, maybe he should just stick with his current setup instead of spending a chunk on an 8GB card that he would have to replace soon. What do you all think?

There's always going to be some bottleneck, but if your friend isn't into demanding AAA titles, going with the 9060XT is a solid choice over an 8GB card. He'll definitely see a big upgrade in performance.

Yeah, it’ll bottleneck a bit, but it's still a significant upgrade from the 1660ti. He'll definitely notice the difference in gaming performance.

I don't think it's a ridiculous pairing at all! It should run fine for most games, though expect some bottlenecking with that setup. Consider upgrading to a 1440p monitor if that's an option; it'll lighten the load on the i7 and make games look even better.

It'll be totally fine. Don't stress about it too much—it's an upgrade that will be worth it!
