What’s Holding Me Back from Switching to Linux? Alternatives for Voice Meeter Potato and Premiere Pro?

I've been using Windows for as long as I can remember, and even tried out Linux during quarantine as my main OS for about a year. But I always went back to Windows because of gaming anti-cheat issues. Now that I'm older and don't play those games anymore, I'm ready to make the switch, but there are two main things preventing me.

First, I rely heavily on Voice Meeter Potato for full control over my audio. I love being able to play music for my friends while gaming and tweaking my audio inputs and outputs. I've purchased the license three times, so I'm hesitant to leave it behind but I'm open to alternatives that have similar capabilities.

Second, there's Adobe Premiere Pro. I stopped using Photoshop a while ago and switched to Photopea, which I actually prefer now. However, I haven't found a good alternative for Premiere Pro. I've tried Sony Vegas and Davinci Resolve, but they didn't work well for me. I'm looking for video editing software that's similar to Premiere Pro and runs smoothly, without lag.

TLDR: I'm searching for alternatives to Voice Meeter Potato that offer the same capabilities and a video editing software similar enough to Adobe Premiere Pro.

For video editing, if you're looking for something that feels close to Premiere Pro, I'd suggest giving HitFilm Express a try. It's a bit more user-friendly than Davinci Resolve and can handle most video editing tasks well. Some people also like Kdenlive; it’s pretty solid for general editing!

Yeah, Kdenlive is good too! Just remember that you might have to adapt to a different workflow than what you’re used to with Premiere.

HitFilm Express has good features, but it does have a learning curve. Just make sure your system is up to the task!

If audio control is your main concern, you might want to look into alternatives like PipeWire and its associated tools. They can provide similar functionality to Voice Meeter, though you might need to spend some time configuring it to get it just right. It's definitely worth checking out if you're set on the Linux switch!

Yeah, I've heard PipeWire can be a game changer for audio on Linux. Just be prepared for some setup time, though!

I definitely support checking out PipeWire; it really enhances audio management in Linux, and there's a growing community around it.

Honestly, it sounds like you might still be pretty attached to Windows software. If you make the switch to Linux, just keep in mind that there will be some trade-offs. You might not find exact replacements for everything you love, but exploring open-source tools could open new doors for you!
