Is it Safe to Mix Different RAM Sizes for Better Performance?

I'm considering upgrading my RAM by adding a 16GB stick to my current setup, which has three 8GB sticks of Corsair Vengeance DDR4, all running at 3600MHz. I'm wondering if mixing these different sizes will harm my PC or slow it down. I'm specifically looking to boost performance for grand strategy games, and while my RAM is at 3600MHz, it defaults to 2133MHz, which hasn't really bothered me. Is it okay to mix them like this?

You won't damage your system, but performance might take a hit. Two sticks usually give you the best speed. Using sticks of different sizes may lead to some slower speeds depending on how the memory controller handles them. Also, check your motherboard manual for the best configuration. Even slight differences in latency can affect overall performance. Just something to keep in mind!

But does this slower performance heavily impact gaming? I love playing Total War: Warhammer.
