Hi everyone! I'm dealing with an annoying issue where Windows Explorer keeps crashing on my Asus Tuf A15 gaming laptop. I've tried several solutions but nothing seems to work. Here's what I've attempted so far:
I ran some commands like 'sfc /scannow', 'DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth', and 'netsh winsock reset'. I also created a new user account to see if the problem persists, and it does. I tried booting in safe mode, but that's also a no-go.
I even attempted the 'Reset this PC' option while keeping my personal data, but that process got interrupted with an error saying "no changes were made."
To give you an idea of the issue, I can't even open Control Panel anymore! Here's part of my Event Viewer report:
- Faulting application: Explorer.EXE
- Faulting module: ucrtbase.dll
- Exception code: 0xc0000409
Just for context, my laptop did crash a couple of weeks ago and went into automatic repair mode, but it came back after a restart. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

You might want to try downloading ShellExView. Once you run it, sort by type and look at the context menu, icon overlay, and property sheet sections. Disable any non-Microsoft extensions you find, and then restart Explorer. That could help resolve the crashing issue!

I tried that and it didn’t work for me. I'm still stuck with the same crashing problem.
