I'm looking to build a new computer because my current one is five years old and struggling to keep up. I want something that not only performs well but also has a nice aesthetic—good cable management and a cohesive look are important to me. My goals include playing games like Cyberpunk and Red Dead Redemption on high settings, as well as using some flight sim gear for VR.
Here's my current build:
- Ryzen 7 3700X
- RTX 2060 Ventus
- MSI B550 Tomahawk MAG
- Corsair Vengeance 32GB DDR4
- 1TB SSD
- Corsair RM750 PSU
And here's my new build:
- Ryzen 7 9800X3D - $440
- NZXT Kraken Plus 360 - $220
- NZXT N7 B650E - $370
- Corsair Vengeance 32GB DDR5 - $400
- Samsung 990 Pro 4TB - $330
- Gigabyte AERO 5070 ti - $860
- NZXT H5 Flow Case - $70
- Thermaltake Toughpower GT 850W - $115
- NZXT F120 RGB Fans (7x) - $209
- NZXT GPU Riser Mount - $50
Totaling around $3,070, do you think this build meets my needs for performance, looks, and longevity? Are there any better or cheaper alternatives?

Honestly, your new build seems a bit overpriced for what you’re getting. You might want to look for cheaper alternatives that can still meet your gaming and VR needs without breaking the bank.
Have you thought about starting with just the new GPU? You could fit it into your current setup to test performance and then decide on the rest of the components. I think your existing PSU should handle it, but you might want to double-check the specs.
Good idea! But I'm mostly looking for the future-proofing with DDR5 and AM5, which my current motherboard doesn't support.

Got it! If it's overpriced, what's the reasonable range I should expect for the performance I'm aiming for?
