I recently sold my old 2019 MacBook Pro on Facebook Marketplace. Before handing it over, I thought I followed all the right steps: I signed out of my Apple ID, wiped the drive using recovery mode, and installed a clean version of macOS. However, I'm still seeing the MacBook listed in the Find My app under the new owner's name. I keep trying to remove it, but it just keeps reappearing, complete with location tracking. It's super frustrating! Why is this happening, and how can I fully remove it from my Find My? Is there something more I should have done? Do I need to consider extreme measures next time I sell a Mac?

You might want to try using the 'Erase All Content and Settings' option if that’s available on your model. This approach resets things a bit more thoroughly on Apple Silicon and T2 Intel Macs. We've seen that just reinstalling macOS often doesn't clear all the settings, especially those tied to the T2 chip.

Totally agree! If you missed that step, it could be why the Find My functionality is still active. You may also need to disable Find My from the Mac itself before selling it.
