Hey everyone! I'm in the process of building a new SFF PC after 14 years and I'm trying to decide on the best graphics card. I'm focusing on good Linux support and quiet operation, as I'll primarily be using it for browsing and watching YouTube videos in 2K. I also want to play some newer games like Cyberpunk, The Last of Us, and Baldur's Gate 3 at 1440p, even if it means playing on medium settings. The prices I'm looking at are around 295 EUR for the Intel B580 with 12GB, 370 EUR for the AMD 7600XT with 16GB, and 306 EUR for the GeForce RTX 4060 with 8GB. I'm pairing the GPU with an AMD Ryzen 5 7600, a B650 chipset, and 2x16GB of 5600 DDR5 RAM. Some people say the AMD 7600XT is the best choice for Linux. What do you think? Is it worth considering the Intel option for its price and performance, or does Nvidia's tech like CUDA and DLSS make it a better choice despite its Linux shortcomings? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Just a heads up, you're not going to find a perfect card in that price range for 2K AAA gaming. But I think the 7600XT will do the job for most games at medium settings. It’s the best option you have considering your budget and resource needs.

I would steer clear of the RTX 4060. It’s underwhelming performance-wise for gaming and has limited Linux support. If you're serious about gaming on Linux, the 7600XT is really solid. It might require some setup, but overall it’s worth it for better compatibility.

If CUDA and DLSS are big deal for you, that’s where Nvidia shines. But with the budget you're working with and your interest in Linux, it’s a tough call. The 7600XT is a great all-rounder and I think you’ll find it performs well, especially for the price. Just keep in mind the lack of support for Nvidia if you stick with Linux.

Honestly, I think the 7600XT is your best bet given your needs. The 4060 is the weakest one, especially for gaming; 8GB VRAM might hold you back in newer titles. Intel's B580 is decent but sticking with AMD seems like a safe choice. It’s got the right balance of performance, price, and support.

Go for the AMD 7600XT! It has great Linux support and 16GB of VRAM, which will be beneficial for the games you want to play. Just make sure to install the right software for fan control and tweaking settings. Intel's offerings are decent, but I wouldn't bank on them for this setup.

Totally agree! I've found that AMD cards usually work way smoother on Linux compared to Intel, especially for gaming.
