Do I need a warranty for RAM from Newegg if I won’t use it for a while?

I'm looking to purchase RAM soon because prices are on the rise. However, I won't be building my PC for another two months. If I find that the RAM is dead on arrival but I only open it two months later, am I going to need a separate warranty to get a replacement? I plan on buying from Newegg.

You should definitely check the product listing for warranty details. For example, the RAM you’re looking at has a limited lifetime warranty and states returns for replacements are acceptable until January 31, 2026. So even if you open it two months later, you should be covered under the warranty for issues like DOA.

Most RAM sticks come with a manufacturer warranty, which should be clearly stated on the product details. However, keep in mind that if you wait too long, you might miss the return window, which is typically 30 days with Newegg. In that case, you'd need to go through the manufacturer's RMA process if you find defects. I'd say you probably don’t need to buy an extra warranty; just check the manufacturer's policy for specifics.
