I've been using Linux Lite on my laptop for about a month without major issues, but recently things have taken a turn. After a freeze and reboot last night, I can't get past the password screen. The input bar flashes a few times, then becomes unresponsive. I can see the clock still ticking, but none of my keyboard or mouse controls seem to work. I've already checked the memory and storage through UEFI, and all tests came back clean. I've also disabled secure boot as suggested.
I looked for a safe boot option in the BIOS/UEFI but couldn't find anything even after following several online guides. I still have the USB I used for installation, but I'd really rather not do a full system reset. Before this issue, I was trying to build an install using the command line for input remapper and ran into an error with permissions that I wanted to sort out. Now, though, I can't access anything to check on it.

You might want to boot from a live USB and use GParted to check your Lite partition for errors. Any Linux live USB should work, but I've heard Puppy Linux is great for doing repairs. This could help you diagnose any issues with your partition.
I got GParted up and running and checked the main partition. It went through without a hitch, but unfortunately, I’m still stuck at the login screen.

Thanks! I don’t have Puppy ready on a live USB at the moment, but I’ll give it a shot with the Linux Lite USB to see if I can fix anything.
