My laptop turned off while charging and won’t turn back on—what should I do?

I woke up to find my laptop open, and after plugging it in to charge, it turned on. However, as I was entering my password, it suddenly shut down and now it won't power back up. I've tried different outlets and charger cables, but none of them seem to work. Normally, when the battery is low, I'd see a warning symbol when trying to turn it on, but nothing appears now—it's completely dead. It's also not overheating. Is there any chance I can fix this at home, or should I take it to a professional?

You mentioned using a USB-C charger. Sometimes, laptops can have specific charging ports that they prefer for charging. If you have multiple USB-C ports, ensure you're using the right one that supports power input. If it still doesn’t charge, your battery may have gone bad, especially after a full discharge—it might need replacing.

Yeah, my laptop's main charger is USB-C, and I’ve tried both ports without success.

It sounds like the charger might not be providing any power. If you can, check the output of the charger with a multimeter to see if it's actually working. You might just be plugging it in with no power coming out, which would leave your battery drained.

If your laptop has a removable battery, try this: remove the battery, hold the power button for about 5 minutes, then put the battery back in and plug in the charger. Give it a shot and see if that helps!

Actually, 15 seconds of holding the power button should be plenty, so give that a go too!
