Why is Google Chrome Using So Much RAM?

I'm using Google Workspace with Google Chrome, and I've noticed that it's really heavy on memory. Specifically, I have a Google Sheet with 2000 rows of formulas and AppScripts, and whenever I open it on a device with 16 GB of RAM, the memory usage almost hits 100%. Even if I don't have other tabs open, Chrome still shows about 70% RAM usage. Is there any insight or solutions for this issue?

Yeah, with 16 GB of RAM, keep in mind that Windows 11 typically uses 35-40% of that just for the operating system itself. And updates may increase that further because of features like pre-loading Windows Explorer. It can add up pretty quickly!

True, but isn't it excessive to need 32 GB just for Google Sheets? It’s just a productivity app, not something graphically intensive like CAD software.
