I'm using Windows 11 and I'm confident my PC is free of any viruses since I run a full scan with Malwarebytes daily. However, I've noticed that 7zip sporadically causes high disk usage in Task Manager, which leads to significant lag for about 30 seconds. This usually happens when I'm playing Fortnite and chatting on Discord. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

It's odd because 7zip usually won't affect your system unless it's actively compressing or extracting files. If that's not the case, you could be dealing with a malware issue masquerading as 7zip. Have you tried advanced malware scans?
Are you sure you're using 7zip for a specific purpose? If it's running during your gaming session, it might be unexpectedly compressing or decompressing files. You might want to check what 7zip is doing while you're gaming.
I really don't know why it's running. Should I just close it before I start playing?

I scan frequently, and I always check the downloads. I use safe sites, so it seems strange. What else can I check?
