I recently purchased a Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB DDR5 RAM kit, specifically a 32 GB set (2 x 16 GB) with a speed of 7200 MHz, designed for Intel systems. I didn't notice that it was Intel-specific until after the purchase. My setup includes an AMD motherboard and CPU, and I'm concerned about compatibility. I'm considering returning it since RAM is hard to find in my country. If I return it, my alternatives are to buy two separate 16 GB XPG sticks at 6000 MHz, or a 32 GB Biwin kit at 6400 MHz. I'm unsure about Biwin's reliability as a newer brand. Additionally, I've heard I might be able to tweak some BIOS settings to make the RAM work, but what changes would that involve? Would using this RAM in the long term be beneficial, or should I return it? I see it was a misstep, but it's my first build, so I appreciate your help!

The RAM will technically work with your AMD setup, but its speed isn’t ideal. AMD systems typically perform best with RAM speeds at or below 6000 MHz. While you can manually tune this kit to lower it to 6000 MHz, the latency will change to CL30 only if you set it correctly. Lowering the speed can help with stability, especially since you have a Ryzen 5 9600X. Just a heads-up, before popping the RAM in, you may want to check if your motherboard needs a BIOS update first. You usually can’t boot without RAM, but if you’re cautious, just inquire about that update from the motherboard’s support site first. Good luck!
Yes, that RAM will work with your AMD build! I've been using RAM designed for Intel on an AMD setup, and it hasn’t caused me any issues. Just keep in mind that the speed advantage might not be fully realized, but you should still have a solid performance overall.

If you want to ensure everything runs smoothly, getting your motherboard updated before installation is a good call. It usually makes for easier compatibility.
