I recently purchased a 1TB NVMe SSD and I'm getting ready to install it. I've heard recommendations to transfer my Windows OS to the new NVMe drive. Is this necessary, or can I keep the OS on my existing 256GB SATA SSD from Kingston? What's the best approach?

For the best experience, I'd recommend reinstalling Windows on the 1TB SSD. It’ll give you a snappier performance than your SATA SSD, but if swapping isn’t your thing, sticking with what you have is also okay.
Honestly, it doesn't make much difference either way. If performance for games isn't a huge concern, you're fine sticking with your current setup.
You generally want your OS on the fastest drive available, but with SATA SSDs, the speed difference might not be super noticeable. If you're just using the new NVMe as extra storage, you probably won't miss much by keeping your OS on the SATA drive.
Just like you, I was in the same boat. I kept my 256GB SATA SSD for the OS and installed my games on the 1TB NVMe SSD. I also have a separate 4TB drive for storage.
It's usually better to put your OS on the larger drive, which is also faster here. But if you're gaming, you might want to keep the smaller drive for Windows and use the 1TB for your games instead.
