I'm planning to upgrade my aging RTX 3070 to an RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB this Christmas since it's one of the best options within my budget. I currently have a Ryzen 7 3800x CPU and was considering the Ryzen 5 5500 because it's cheaper and seems good for the price. However, I've seen benchmarks indicating it might bottleneck with the 5060 Ti. I have a TUF Gaming X570-Plus Wi-Fi motherboard and I'm looking for a solid CPU under $200 that would pair well with the 5060 Ti. Any recommendations?

I've heard the Ryzen 5 5500 isn't as good as the Ryzen 5 3600. Personally, I wouldn't upgrade from a 3070 to a 5060 Ti unless it was really necessary. Honestly, you might want to aim for a 5070 if you can save up a bit more since it justifies the upgrade better. The 5060 Ti might feel underwhelming if you're coming from a 3070.
You can actually find a Ryzen 7 5800X for around $183 on PC Part Picker. It's a great CPU that can keep up with the new graphics card without needing to jump to an expensive x3D chip.
If you're still on a 1080p monitor, consider upgrading to a 1440p instead. If you’ve already got a 1440p display, the 5800X would be the better option for future-proofing your setup.
