Looking for Build Tips for My New GeForce RTX 5090 Setup

I recently got lucky and received an email saying I had priority access to buy a GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card from Nvidia. The email came at 1 pm, and I only had 24 hours to purchase it. It even ended up in my promo inbox, so I almost missed it! I spent $2300 on the card after taxes, and it took about a week to arrive. Now, I'm eager to build a premium computer around it and would love some suggestions. I'm not too worried about budget.

Here's what I have so far:
- **Case:** HYTE Y70 Touch Infinite ATX Mid Tower (Black)
- **CPU:** AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D 4.3 GHz 16-Core
- **CPU Cooler:** Deepcool ASSASSIN IV VC VISION (air-cooled to reduce failure points; is this a wise choice?)
- **Motherboard:** Gigabyte X870E AORUS MASTER ATX AM5
- **Memory:** G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB 96 GB (2 x 48 GB) DDR5-6800 CL34 (should I consider slower RAM?)
- **Video Card:** NVIDIA Founders Edition GeForce RTX 5090 32 GB
- **Power Supply:** Corsair AX1600i 1600 W 80+ Titanium (is 1600W overkill? I've heard about melting cables with 5090s)
- **Storage:** Two Samsung 990 Pro SSDs (1TB and 4TB)
- **Case Fans:** Lian Li Uni Fan SL-Infinity 120mm (3-pack)

Thanks in advance for your help!

I think sticking with 6000 MHz CL30 RAM is a smart move. Plus, you really don’t need to splurge on that $600 PSU. For most builds, a good quality PSU in the $200-300 range will do the job just fine. Just make sure your GPU's power connectors have enough space to prevent melting.

Thanks. Yeah, $600 for a PSU does feel like overkill. Do you have any suggestions? How about the Corsair HX1500i (2023) for $300?

You've definitely picked some top-tier components! For your RAM, I recommend switching to DDR5-6000 CL30. It should provide better stability with that CPU. Also, if you’re considering a CPU cooler, the Arctic Liquid Freezer III AIO is highly regarded, and it might save you some space inside the case without compromising performance.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will take a look!

Heads up, the Deepcool ASSASSIN IV VC may not be available in the US due to sanctions. There's a chance you might need a different CPU cooler. If you have to go another route, a good air cooler may still do the trick! Also, unless you're doing really heavy tasks that utilize all 16 cores, consider if you truly need that CPU. B850 boards can handle the 9950X3D just fine for most users, potentially saving you some cash.

Yes, I’m in the US. Oh wow, I had no idea! I’ll definitely look for another cooler.

You might want to consider the Crucial T500 instead of the 990 Pro for your SSDs. They perform similarly for everyday use and gaming but can be cheaper, which can help keep costs down.

What’s your main use for this PC? If it’s mostly gaming or light AI work, you might not need all the specs you're going for. Spending that much on a high-wattage PSU is almost overkill unless you're doing some serious rendering work. Most builds can run just fine on a good 1000W PSU, especially for gaming if you're not running everything at full load.

Mostly gaming and running AI models. Thanks for all the details! With so many new parts, it's hard to keep up, but your insights help a lot!
