I'm currently upgrading my PC setup. I'm replacing my current GPU and RAM, and then building a new rig for myself. I'm considering either the 9800X3D or the 7800X3D paired with a B850M Mortar motherboard and my existing 4070 Super. The 9800X3D costs an additional $170 here in the Philippines. My main activities will be gaming and running one virtual machine for work. I want to know if the price difference is justified or if the 7800X3D will still hold up well into 2026. I mostly play games like POE2, CP2077, RDR2, and mods for Witcher 3. Any thoughts on which CPU would be better for my use case?

You generally won’t see a big performance boost with the 9800X3D unless your GPU is significantly more powerful. For your current card, sticking with the 7800X3D is a wise move.
The 7800X3D should work just fine for your gaming needs. It’s a solid choice!
Thank you! That helps a lot.
I’d recommend the 7800X3D along with a B650M board instead of the B850M. You’ll save money and get good performance!
Can you suggest a B650M board that includes a USB-C rear port? I definitely need at least one!
With a 4070 Super, the 9800X3D might be overkill. If you're not experiencing any CPU bottlenecks in your games, you may want to save some cash and just go with the 7800X3D.
I'm planning to give my 7600 to my wife with a cheaper GPU, which is why I need a new CPU for my 4070 Super setup. Still unsure if I should invest in the 9800X3D or settle for the 7800X3D.

Got it. I’m not planning to upgrade my GPU right now, so the 7800X3D seems fair enough.
