How Can I Advance My Career as a Frontend Developer in Italy?

Hey everyone! I'm looking for some advice on how to level up my career. I'm 29 and have spent the last five years as a frontend developer, but lately, I've been feeling pretty stuck. My current job doesn't offer much in terms of growth, both financially and professionally, and overall, it just feels stagnant. As I consider making a change in 2026, I'm keen to enhance my English skills and also take a serious leap forward in my career.

Here's the scoop on my situation in Italy:

- Specializing only in frontend work isn't super in-demand right now.
- I keep getting job offers that feel underwhelming and make me feel undervalued.

I want to invest in both my language and technical skills, but I'm unsure which route to take. Here's what I'm considering:

- Taking several Udemy courses to deepen my knowledge and hopefully improve my chances in the job market.
- Exploring more structured courses that cost a bit more but might give me better opportunities or networking chances. I've heard some programs can really help in IT, but I'm not sure.
- Diversifying my skills, perhaps learning Three.js or switching gears to full-stack development or game development, which has always intrigued me. I'm open to other promising fields too.

For context, I don't have a university degree, and moving abroad to gain international experience is one of my biggest dreams right now. What are your thoughts?

Definitely consider learning backend skills to become a full-stack developer. Choose a database like PostgreSQL, a language such as Python or Node.js, and a framework like Django or Spring. Also, I suggest staying away from game development for now; it typically offers lower pay and there’s a lot of competition.

Yes, focus on the essentials. Game development can be a hobby, but your career should prioritize stability and growth.

A lot of folks are shifting towards full-stack development these days, and cloud technologies are booming. It's good to learn about AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and other modern tools. Those skills are becoming increasingly valuable in the job market right now!
