I'm looking to upgrade my GPU and I'm stuck between the PNY RTX 5070 (12GB) and the AMD RX 9070 (16GB). My current setup includes an 8GB RTX 2070 Super, a Ryzen 5 5600x, a 750W PSU, and 32GB of DDR4 RAM at 3200MHz. I typically game at 1080p, so I know either card would perform well. However, both are priced the same at $500, and I'm curious about which would be the better option. I've always used NVIDIA cards, so I'm hesitant about switching to AMD, but the extra VRAM on the 9070 looks appealing for future-proofing. What do you think?

The RX 9070 should give you slightly better raw performance, and with the added VRAM, it could be a better investment. However, if ray tracing and frame generation matter to you, the 5070 has a leg up there. Pretty much depends on what you prioritize in gaming.
If both cards are the same price, go for the RX 9070—it's a clear winner. Honestly, both of these GPUs are overkill for 1080p gaming; I recommend stepping up to 1440p. You'll get better performance out of either card. They can easily handle high settings at 60+ FPS in 1440p, which is pretty sweet!
Definitely the RX 9070. The 5070 just doesn't compare in this case. It's been cut down from the 9070XT, while the 5070 sits between the 5070 Ti and the 5060 Ti, and won't give you the same performance. There's a big difference when it comes to raw power!
That's a good point; NVIDIA does have great driver support and their features are impressive. Still, the extra VRAM on the 9070 might offer some advantages in the long run.
Considering you're gaming at 1080p, the RTX 5070 could be fine, especially since I'm using it for 1440p and even 4K gaming without a hitch. Plus, NVIDIA's drivers and features seem more future-proof compared to AMD's FSR, which hasn't quite matched DLSS yet. But why choose the 9070? I've heard that NVIDIA cards generally have better driver support and features like DLSS, which matters a lot for gamers. My brother had an AMD card that often had driver issues, so I’m a bit wary.
