Hey everyone! My boyfriend just upgraded to a new AMD 9070XT GPU, switching from an NVIDIA 4070 Super. He used DDU to thoroughly remove all NVIDIA drivers. However, while playing Fortnite, his PC completely freezes up and doesn't recover; he has to hold down the power button to restart. The Windows Event Logger keeps showing a WHEA Logger Event 17. We've tried various solutions, including updating the BIOS, but the PC was working perfectly before the GPU swap. Here are the specs: Intel Core i9-14900KF, ASUS Prime Z790-V AX motherboard, 32GB T-Force Delta DDR5 RAM, Seasonic Vertex 850W Gold PSU, AMD 9070XT, SOLIDIGM P41 PLUS NVMe M.2 storage.

Double-check that the GPU is properly seated in the top PCIe slot. It can sometimes get loose during installation, which could cause freezing.
You could test it with the old GPU to see if the freezing persists. If it does, that might point to other issues. The power usage difference isn't too drastic, so I wouldn’t blame the PSU right away.
When uninstalling NVIDIA drivers, it's crucial to do this in Safe Mode with DDU. Also, re-seating the RAM might solve the problem too.
