I'm considering switching away from Windows 11 Pro due to issues with telemetry and stability. I have a powerful setup with an RTX 5090 and a Threadripper 7960X. I'm primarily into single-player gaming and I'm looking for suggestions on which Linux distribution would offer the best performance, stability, and overall experience for gaming. Also, are there any specific things I should be cautious about during the switch?

You might want to try Kubuntu 25.10. It comes with the latest kernel and mesa libraries, which should support your hardware nicely. Just remember to install the newer Nvidia drivers from the additional drivers section once you're set up. Plus, when the 26.04 LTS version drops next April, an upgrade will be easy!

In my experience, any major Linux distro will perform similarly for gaming, as long as it’s well-supported and maintained. But starting out with a user-friendly distribution can make a big difference, especially if you’re new to Linux. Don't stress too much about finding the "perfect for gaming" distro—what matters more is your comfort level and familiarity with it!

Thanks for the advice! I'll keep that in mind.
