Hey everyone! I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card to a 9070XT, but I'm a bit concerned about my current build. Here's what I have: an AMD Ryzen 5 5600X processor, MSI MPG B550 Gaming Plus motherboard, 16GB of Corsair Vengeance LPX RAM (2 x 8GB at 3200 MHz), a 500GB Samsung 970 EVO Plus SSD, and I'm using an MSI MAG A650BN power supply rated at 650W. I plan on undervolting the 9070XT, as I've heard it's possible to reduce the power usage from around 340W to 280W without losing performance. My CPU has a TDP of around 85W from what I found online. Do you think my setup can handle this upgrade, or will it cause issues? Thanks! (Apologies for my English, it's not my first language.)

I'd recommend upgrading to 32GB of RAM if you can. Also, 650W might be cutting it a bit close when it comes to headroom for your components.

Your CPU has a TDP of 65W, so you might not even need to undervolt that much. However, just be aware that your CPU could bottleneck the 9070XT a bit. If you want to save some cash, consider the 9070 instead, especially if the price difference is not huge. You can also check out a PSU calculator to confirm your needs; 650W should be plenty for either the 9070 or 9070XT!

I ran the calculator, and it suggests I need around 700W. The price difference for the 9070 isn't much more—about $50.

Your setup should work fine! Just make sure to get the 8-pin variant of the 9070XT if your power supply has enough connectors. It sounds like you're good to go!

Thanks for the info! I believe I have the 8-pin PSU (6+2) since that's what my current 3060 requires.
