What’s the Best Linux Distro for Gaming and Creative Work?

I'm completely new to Linux and I'm looking for recommendations. I need a distro that can run games like Minecraft, The Sims 4, and Baldur's Gate 3. It should also support Krita and preferably Clip Studio Paint. I know Adobe products like Photoshop won't run natively, so alternatives are okay. My laptop is an Asus TUF A15, and I hear Linux is great for performance. Ideally, I want a version that doesn't require too much coding to set up and has plenty of online resources. Should I stick with Windows, or is there a Linux option that could fit my needs? Oh, and I also need DaVinci Resolve for my work, so that's a must.

While it’s disappointing that you’ll miss out on Adobe software, many users love using Linux Mint for creative tasks since it supports Krita well. As for games, just remember some may require workarounds, but it's worth trying. Also, they say that performance on Linux is often better on similar hardware compared to Windows.

If you're set on your current software, just install Windows. But if you want to explore Linux, don’t hesitate to install a few distros. You can try them out without full installation, and see which one clicks with you. You can always switch back to Windows later if you need to.

Honestly, if Adobe is crucial for your work, it might be best to stick with Windows for now. Linux doesn't have native support for those apps. But if you do want to try Linux, I hear great things about Linux Mint, especially since it doesn't force heavy coding on you. Just make sure to check if DaVinci Resolve runs on the version you choose.

True, and if you want more freedom, consider using virtual machines with Windows for running specific Adobe apps while using Linux for everything else.

For your needs, I’d recommend checking out Linux Mint. It’s user-friendly and has a familiar interface if you're coming from Windows. You'll find that games like Minecraft (Java edition) and Baldur's Gate 3 should work fine on it. Just make sure to use ProtonDB to verify compatibility for the games in your library. Adobe products won’t work, but alternatives like Krita and GIMP are solid options.

Exactly! Linux Mint will keep you comfortable as it mirrors Windows. Plus, with your Asus TUF A15, performance should be solid—especially with the right Nvidia drivers.
