Will my Ryzen 5 5600G be a good match for an RTX 5050?

I've been using a Ryzen 5 5600G for a while, and a few months back, I added an RTX 3070 to my setup. However, I felt like the GPU was getting choked by the CPU's performance. I'm considering switching to an RTX 5050 but want to know if that would still create a bottleneck or if it's a better idea to stick with the 3070. Any advice?

Bottlenecking is a term thrown around a lot, but in a case with a 5600G and a 3070, there's no huge disparity in performance. Many games run well at 1080p, and if you're thinking of a 5050, you might end up with worse performance. Keep the 3070 for sure!

Honestly, just skip the 5050. If you're concerned about performance, I'd recommend sticking with the 3070. It's a much better card and will give you a better gaming experience overall. What's your budget though?

I doubt your 5600G was actually bottlenecking your 3070. What games are you playing? If you're at 1080p, that setup should work fine. You’ll get better returns just upgrading to an 5800X or similar if you're looking for those gains.

A 5600G can handle entry-level GPUs, so the RTX 5050 would work okay, but honestly, don’t downgrade. You're better off optimizing your settings for the 3070 instead.
