Help! Samsung Update Locked Me Out of My Phone

I woke up to find that the passcode for my Samsung phone isn't working anymore. I didn't change it, and I've tried using my usual pattern and even an old one. I rebooted the phone, but that didn't help either. I am locked out for another half hour, and I'm really frustrated because I need access to important work and sensitive information on my phone. After a recent update, this problem occurred, and customer support has told me there's no way to retrieve my data, which is unacceptable. I could really use some knowledgeable advice here!

If you have your cloud backup set up, double-check that it’s up to date. You might need to do a factory reset if nothing else works, but keep in mind that this could erase your existing data. Unfortunately, there’s a reason for the security feature – you can't simply bypass it without authorization.

So you're saying even if I have proof like my payment details and IMEI, I might still be out of luck?

Can you log into your Samsung or Google account from a computer? You should check if your cloud backup looks okay there. It might give you some peace of mind if everything’s backed up properly before you try anything drastic.

I tried logging in, but my phone isn't showing up even with the IMEI entered.

I get that this is frustrating, but if you can't get past the passcode, it’s likely that no one else can either. Have you thought about visiting a store for help? They could check if the screen’s touch sensitivity is acting up, though that’s not very common. And for all your sensitive info, please tell me you have backups?

I had something similar happen, but it wasn’t after an update. A simple restart worked for me and let me in with the passcode. Maybe give that another shot?

I force restarted it, but when it booted up, the lock was still on and the passcode just wouldn't work.
