I've noticed that when I eject removable storage in Windows, Windows Explorer closes completely, which is pretty frustrating. I remember in earlier versions of Windows, it would just move to the parent folder instead. Is there a specific setting in Windows Explorer I can tweak to avoid this?

This behavior has been standard for a while now. When you eject a drive, Windows assumes you don't need to see its contents anymore. Instead of ejecting directly, try clicking on another folder first before ejecting. It’s a quick workaround!
Honestly, if you really dislike Windows Explorer, consider trying a different file browser like Total Commander. Just keep in mind it might not suit everyone's needs, but it can offer a different experience.
I can't switch to a different file browser right now, but I get what you mean about Explorer. It could use some improvements!
While I can't solve the closing issue, I recommend using the Win+E shortcut to quickly open a new Explorer window. It makes things a bit easier when you need to access files without restarting.
To be fair, if you're done with the storage drive, closing the Explorer window makes sense. But yeah, it would be nice to have the option.
