I want to set up a simple computer for my grandma, who is in her late 70s. She has no prior experience with computers or devices, and she doesn't have internet access. My goal is to give her an easy way to watch home videos, view pictures, listen to music, and read eBooks. What Linux operating system would be the most straightforward and user-friendly for her? I also want it to be something that won't require updates.

Just keep in mind that without the internet, you’ll need to manually load all her movies, music, and eBooks onto the computer. If you do that, almost any distro can work, but Mint and Zorin are solid choices for her needs.

I think Linux Mint would be your best bet! It’s super user-friendly, and you can put all her favorite icons on the desktop for easy access to her photos, music, and videos. She just needs to click on them to use them, and it'll make things really simple for her.

Absolutely! Mint really streamlines everything for her. Once she gets familiar with clicking on those icons, she’ll be good to go!

If she's used to Windows, you might want to try Zorin OS. It has a familiar interface that can make the transition a lot easier for her. Plus, since she doesn’t need internet, you can pre-load everything for her.

For the simplest experience, consider using LibreElec, which boots straight into Kodi for media playback. It might be the least fuss and looks professional at home.

You could go with Lubuntu; it’s light and not too complicated. Or if she’s a Windows 7 user, consider Kumander Linux. It’s tailored for older users and can be very helpful.
