How Can I Access My Apple Account if It’s Locked by a Family ID?

I'm new to Apple products and ran into a weird situation with my iPhone 13 Pro Max. I bought it through a local store on a six-month payment plan. The shop owner used his Apple ID to lock the phone with Family Access, promising to unlock it once I complete my payments. This is to prevent people from bailing on payments, which I get, but it's really inconvenient for me. They also added my Apple ID as a secondary, allowing me to use the Apple Store. However, I want to change my region to access apps that aren't available in my country, but I can't get to my Apple ID settings because the owner's ID is blocking me. Is there any way I can access my own Apple ID and switch the region? Any advice would be super helpful since I'm not too familiar with how Apple works and this is pretty frustrating.

That sounds like a really shady practice from the store owner. It’s not right for a business to lock you out of your own account like that. Once you've made your payments and gotten the phone unlocked, I’d recommend never going back to that place. You might also want to check if this behavior is reported as illegal in your area, as it sounds pretty sketchy.

Yeah, locking the phone like that is pretty extreme. If I were you, I’d also consider reporting this to someone if it violates consumer rights where you are.
