What Motherboard Should I Upgrade To for My New GPU?

I recently upgraded my gaming rig with a GeForce 5060ti, but I suspect my current motherboard is holding it back. It's compatible, but I don't think it can utilize the full capabilities of my new GPU. I mainly work with VR, Blender for rendering and animations, and other tasks that require heavy video RAM. Right now, I have an MSI mATX (PRO) motherboard. What would be a good motherboard upgrade to fully take advantage of what the 5060ti has to offer?

It sounds like your motherboard might be contributing to mild performance loss. The GeForce 5060ti uses PCIe with eight lanes, and if your board only supports PCIe 3.0, you could be seeing around a 10% drop in some games, especially if your CPU isn’t always pushing the GPU to its max. So yeah, while your CPU is probably the bigger concern, you could definitely be seeing some impact from the motherboard as well.

Thanks for breaking that down! I had a feeling something might be off performance-wise, so I'll focus on getting a better motherboard.

Motherboards typically don't throttle performance, but it helps to consider your entire setup. Can you share your CPU and RAM specifications? GPUs can often get bottlenecked by the CPU or insufficient RAM, especially in demanding applications. If you're still on older hardware like DDR3 RAM, that could also be an issue.

I appreciate the heads-up! Sorry, I forgot to include my specs. I have an Intel Core i5 11th gen, a GeForce 5060ti with 16GB VRAM, and 32GB of DDR4 RAM, all running on an MSI mATX (PRO).
