Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a bind. Right now, I don't have a laptop, and I'm trying to pick up data skills to get a job. Previously, I made YouTube videos for a couple of years, but that didn't pan out, and I'm left looking for work. Currently, the only roles I can apply for are in customer support or similar areas. I've tried video editing on my phone, but companies mainly want work done on proper setups.
Here's the issue: I started learning Python through freeCodeCamp, but since I don't have a laptop—my brother took his to another city—it's been tough. I've been trying to learn on my phone by watching videos and jotting down notes, but I'm really struggling when it gets to if-else statements and loops. I've switched to SQL, which is a little easier on mobile, but I still feel limited without a proper setup.
I understand my situation is far from ideal, but I'm determined not to give up. I want to learn essential skills thoroughly so I can eventually secure a decent job. What should I realistically do next? Are there good beginner resources for SQL or Python that break things down really slowly? And what tips do you have for learning without a laptop? Thanks for your advice!

I appreciate your determination! But learning Python or SQL seriously without a laptop will limit you significantly. Treat any job you can get as a stepping stone to buying a cheap used laptop. In the meantime, keep learning the basics and taking notes, but get a machine soon. Then you can switch to daily practice and really start writing code effectively.
You don’t need a high-end laptop to learn Python! You could get by with a $50 Raspberry Pi and a basic monitor, keyboard, and mouse setup. While reading is important, you'll need to start practicing on a bigger screen with a keyboard to really get the hang of coding. I recommend prioritizing getting a job to build your experience and income. You can learn skills alongside that.
I’d suggest focusing on getting any job for now until you can buy a laptop. Learning on paper takes way longer, and it's hard to get into programming without a proper setup. Just get that steady income, and then you can save up for a laptop and start learning properly!
Honestly, it sounds like you're in a tough spot. Trying to break into Python development without any prior experience and no laptop might not be the best idea right now. Many people spend years studying this beautifully complex field and still struggle to find a job! You need to consider if you can support yourself while learning these skills. If not, maybe it’s worth exploring other career options for now.

Great advice! Plus, once you get a laptop, you’ll find it much easier to dive deeper into those languages. Keep your head up!
