I recently built my very first PC, and while attempting to play some games, I noticed there's a bit of lag, which seems unusual given my specs. My internet speed is good at 450mbps, so I'm wondering if I missed any critical driver installations. I've installed the LAN, wireless, chipset, audio, and Bluetooth drivers from the motherboard's support page, as well as the GeForce Game Ready Driver via the NVIDIA app. However, I wasn't sure if I needed to install the VGA, utilities, SATA, or Armory Crate drivers as well. A video tutorial mentioned a SATA cable, but it didn't seem necessary for my build. I've also plugged in the extra antenna that came with the case. I even reseated the GPU, but that didn't help either.
Here are my specs:
- SSD: Samsung 2TB
- RAM: 32 GB
- CPU: Ryzen 7 9800x3D
- GPU: GeForce RTX 5080
- Cooling: Corsair Nautilus 360
- Case: Lian Li Lancool 207
- Motherboard: TUF Gaming B650E-E WiFi
- Power Supply: Super Flower Leadex III 1300W
Also, could it be an issue with my power supply? The motherboard has a 12-pin connection, but I'm only using 8 pins because that was all my power supply provided. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

First, double-check that your memory is running at the right speed in the BIOS. It should be around 6000 MHz after enabling EXPO. You might want to monitor your CPU and GPU temperatures as well, especially when gaming. Since you have a solid setup, if it's lagging, it could be a BIOS update issue. Make sure you have the latest BIOS version for better compatibility with the Ryzen 7 9800x3D.
What games are you playing? Your rig should handle most modern games on max settings easily. When you noticed the lag, were your GPU and CPU temps high? Also, check if Windows was installed correctly from the media flash drive—sometimes that can cause issues. Make sure your monitor is connected to the GPU, not the motherboard, which can sometimes lead to performance issues too!
I tested Fortnite and No Man's Sky. Both the CPU and GPU were showing low temps. The monitor was plugged into the motherboard initially, but I switched it to the GPU with no improvement.
If you're still having trouble, try going into your BIOS and disabling resizable bar and above 4G decoding settings. These caused lagging issues for some people I know, even when just using Windows, not just in games.
I tried that, but it didn’t seem to help at all.

I enabled EXPO and saw it hit 6000 MHz, so that's good! I didn't check the BIOS version yet; any tips on how to find that?
