Is My Lenovo Laptop’s CPU Overheating or Just Not Performing Well?

I recently purchased a Lenovo 14-inch laptop equipped with a U5 225H processor, along with 32GB of RAM and an internal Arc 130T GPU. To manage the heat, I've disabled turbo boost in the power settings. The laptop sits at around 30 degrees when idle, but peaks at 60-65 degrees under full load. The problem I'm facing is that the performance during gaming doesn't seem to match what I expected, and it feels like it's not truly hitting full load performance. When I enable turbo boost again, the temperatures hit about 90 quickly, with the P cores reaching 98 degrees in no time. I've made sure to install the latest BIOS, adjusted power settings for performance, and confirmed that the laptop receives the correct 100W from the power supply with the CPU operating at 28W. What am I overlooking?

It sounds like your Intel CPU is just running hot under load, which is pretty common with these newer chips. They're designed to reach up to 110 C, so peaking at 90 C might be normal during heavy tasks. Typically, they’ll spike to high temps and then reduce their power to settle in around 75 C under sustained loads. It's worth checking if your cooling system is working as intended, but from what you describe, it might just be how these chips operate. By the way, what model is your laptop?

It's the Lenovo Xiaoxin 14 Pro, which is a model specific to China based on the 83NC model.
